Fall Flavors

 

At Savory we are all a-buzz with all things fall, especially when it comes to the food. These next three months are filled with mouth-watering flavors that get neglected the other nine months of the year. Today, I’m here to tell you what delicious flavor combinations we can put together for your various parties and events.

 

The Grandmaster of Flavors: Pumpkin

 

Autumn is overrun with pumpkin-flavored dishes- and for good reason! It makes a great addition to non-sweet and sweet dishes. Add a little cinnamon and nutmeg to the pumpkin and voila! you have a scrumptious dessert. Here are just some of the pumpkin-flavored items we offer:

 

Pumpkin Panna Cotta

Panna Cotta is an un-cooked custard (similar to a creme brulee) It is topped with fresh whipped cream, caramel sauce and toffee bits. Here, it is in an appetizer serving but you may also have a dinner-sized dessert. It’s creamy and filled with the best pumpkin flavor. It’s hard to eat only one!

Pumpkin Spice Cake

Most people think of the crappy box spice cake from years ago when they think of Pumpkin Spice Cake. Not so with our recipe. We make ours from scratch and it is moist, fluffy, packed with great flavor. We top it off with the familiar cream cheese frosting. The think I like most about this dessert is that it has a fine balance of being sweet but not overbearingly sweet.

Pumpkin Spice Cocktail (or mocktail)

This is almost more dessert than a drink! The drink has a predominant flavor with hints of butterscotch and cinnamon. We love to serve it in martini glasses with a gingersnap rimmer.

 Soups

Fall and winter are soup season. It warms the body and the soul. Savory makes a wide variety of soup from creamy to chunky stews. You may also order a soup bar for your event. Some of our flavors include Spinach and Sausage, Ministrone, Corn Chowder, Cream of Asparagus, and…

Gouda Cheese and Apple Soup

This soup is a Savory original and it is divine! Even those who may not be big cheese lovers or adventurous eaters, once they took a chance on it, it quickly zoomed to the top of their “delicious foods” list. We make the soup from fresh apples and a combination of regular and smoked Gouda cheese.

Butternut Squash

Although not as common as pumpkin or sweet potatoes, butternut squash is a great fall flavor. Chef Lou makes a creamy butternut squash soup with hand made cinnamon croutons. We also make our own butternut squash ravioli with brown butter and pecans. Chef Lou makes her ravioli by hand and the taste is out of this world!
