Bright and Colorful Winter Wedding

For these two love birds still in college, getting married in January before the semester started made the most sense. Having it dead in the middle of winter, however, doesn’t mean it has to be drab. See how this bride planned her wedding reception to dispel the winter weariness.

Showcasing Your Personality

Our bride, Sydnee, is full of life and energy; she brought that personality into the look and feel of the wedding. Her color palette featured cobalt blue, bright yellow, pinks, greens, and oranges. We coordinated with her to prepare similarly bright-colored food and to decorate the buffet.

First up for this bride were sliders. She had her reception in the evening and so anticipated a hungry crowd. Sliders are a perfect option. Besides, they come in so many different flavors. For her event, Sydnee picked a beef tenderloin slider with an herbed cheese spread on a handmade Kaiser knot. Next were tortellini skewers with mozzarella, then colorful and crisp vegetable shooters.

For the sweeter-side, we served our fresh fruit tarts: a handmade, lemon-scented pastry shell with vanilla pastry cream, fresh fruit and an apricot nappage.

We spread a basil chiffonade over the skewers and garnished with fresh basil leaves down the center. We love symmetry!

Buffet Decorating

With Savory, a free decorated buffet is included in every order. We coordinate with the main wedding planner/bride to get an idea of the look of the setting. We take into account the bride’s colors, table cloth, flower arrangements, table arrangement, and so many other factors.

For Sydnee’s wedding, the buffet tables were laid out end to end and covered with a cobalt blue tablecloth. We incorporated her lanterns and flowers into the design of the table. We bring all the necessary platters, risers, chafers, heat lamps, and other decorations as needed. Our buffet designer loves variety, candles, and differing heights!

Sydnee had her reception in a church gym; she strung up a canopy of lights and had the tables dressed in the same cobalt blue- lovely!
